Aqua Ultraviolet Systems

An AQUA ULTRAVIOLET system when sized as a Sterilizer (Flow rate and pond size is not exceeded for sterilizing) is intended to kill bacteria, parasites and algae living Aqua UV unitin your pond. Very clear water will result when the clarity problem is due to suspended algae. Killing all bacteria that pass through the unit does not mean that nothing can live in your pond. In order for the most harmful bacteria to reproduce, it must become free floating to find its host, and that is when your AQUA ULTRAVIOLET system comes into play by killing the harmful bacteria. Bad bacteria can spread throughout a pond and cause infection in fish; this has been responsible for more people leaving the Koi Hobby than any other factor.

When you size your UV according to the Clarifier flow rate and pond size you can expect relativity clear water. You will be able to see through the water and see your fish but there may be a greenish tint to the water. Also it may be necessary to provide shade in the form of water lilies or floating plants to cover 50% to 70% of the pond surface.

AQUA ULTRAVIOLET systems are easy to install. The units are installed in the plumbing system somewhere after the pump before it enters the pond. These units are installed outside the pond. Your plumbing can be cut into and connections made for the water to enter one end of the UV and exit the other. The Water Garden will be glad to help you with any plumbing fittings that may be necessary to connect the UV to your existing plumbing. Just drop us an email or give us a phone call with the size and type of plumbing and the size of UV that you are considering. The 8 watt and 15 watt units come with a 3/4" threaded inlet/outlet. The 25-watt to 240-watt units have 2" PVC slip fittings. You just plug the system into a GFI electrical outlet. All AQUA ULTRAVIOLET systems have light indicators so at a glance you know if your system is on and working. The ballast have NEMA water tight housings. Your system should run along with your pump, 24 hours daily. It may not be necessary to run the lamps year round. You may be able to get two or three years before replacing a lamp depending on the number of months you operated the unit a year. Lamp changes should be made every 14 to 15 months of use. Lamp changes are done easily by a one-end plug connection. No fumbling with wires. AQUA ULTRAVIOLET systems are environmentally safe and not harmful to humans.
